Product Kanban Board

The Product Kanban Board is where all product-related tasks live. Product, engineering, QA, design, CRM tasks all flow through this board, and it gives a snapshot of what is currently being worked on by the whole team. Work generally arrives via strategic planning and the product roadmap, but other more ad-hoc work appears too.

Process

The majority of your week should be spent picking up tickets from the Product Kanban Board.

The Product x Engineering team runs stand-ups on a Monday and Friday, and a more thorough status report on Tuesdays. Work is picked up from “To Do” on the following basis:

[Priority] What is the next most high priority task…
[Capability] …that makes sense for me to pick up…
[Scheduling] …that I have time to complete

For example, if there is a ticket that relates to your favourite area of the codebase which is likely to take a week, but you’re on annual leave next week, perhaps pick up something a bit smaller.

If in doubt about what to pick up next, consult the product team.

QA

If a ticket you’re working on requires manual QA, set the QA requirement custom field to Manual QA. When that ticket lands in the “In review” column, it will automatically be added to the “QA Zone > Current QA jobs” project and be scheduled for QA.

Before this happens, it’s worth confirming what kind of manual QA is needed for the ticket.
